2022 was a year of re-igniting my side business passion.
And compared to when I was starting, roughly 15 years ago, I feel like a kid in a candy store!
Can’t wait for 2023 – automation will be here to stay, and content distribution tools will be better than ever.
Future feel great!
Sure, I’ve never stopped; Some of the websites I built over a decade ago are still out there, serving visitors and yielding steady passive (even if small) affiliate income.
But something feels different now.
The world is changing. Like, for real.
Everything is becoming increasingly competitive. And I’ve realised how meta-skills and soft skills are increasingly important in this new world.
Why? Because AI will dominate the boring grunt work.
It’s coming, whether we want it or not.
And to shelter yourself, the best bet is to… explore a lot, and develop different skills.
In other words, to lean into your entrepreneurial spirit.
And a handful of passive sites is not going to cut it. You need to work on it.
And so, it’s time to turn your wildest ideas into reality. As a byproduct, you’ll learn to take risks and be on the lookout for ways to improve and innovate daily. You’ll learn to think outside the box, spot problems that others miss, and figure out solutions to them.
And those solutions…you can productize into amazing side businesses and portfolio items!
All that in addition to your 9-5, in the ideal case using the skills you’ve learnt during your career anyway:
This kind of resourcefulness will set you up for success in an increasingly rapidly changing world.
Take action
How do we awaken the entrepreneurial spirit?
I have a few routines I’ve been cultivating over the years. By far, my top 3 are:
- Take calculated risks: Releasing anything out there requires taking risks. Yet, it’s important to be strategic and calculated in your risk-taking. Consider the potential benefits and drawbacks of each decision, but realise that, more often than not, you’re quite safe. Just do it.
- Keep learning: It’s important to stay up to date with trends and best practices. Invest in your own education by getting coaching or a great course. This is the best investment you can make.
- Network and seek mentors: Surround yourself with other people sharing your dreams, and seek out mentors who can provide guidance and support. Building a strong network will help you get feedback and maintain momentum.
A bonus one: Embrace failure: Failure is a natural part of the journey. When things don’t go as planned, use it as an opportunity to learn and grow. Don’t let setbacks hold you back, but rather use them as fuel to keep going.
If not now, when then?
Now is the best time to feed your entrepreneurial spirit with a side hustle because the resources and support systems available make it easier than ever to turn your ideas and passion into a business.
The Internet has enabled an easy way to reach thousands of people, and there are countless online resources available to help you get started.
And a good community goes a long way.
The best one, in my opinion?

Screw that – it’s not even about money. Just building is a good reason to build. All the learning, all the fulfilment, the whole journey!
The future is bright for you if you’re willing to put in the work and…well, just start.
I don’t have much to say this week. It’s the last week of the year.
And I just want you to stop overthinking, stop dreaming, and start taking action.
Start publishing. Start materialising your ideas. Start…putting yourself out there.
In 2023, I have a lot in store to help you with that.
So…happy new year, and see you in January!
