Over the years, I have worked with several different research groups at University of Oulu. Right now I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Ubiquitous Computing, University of Oulu.

As a researcher at the University of Oulu, I have led and managed to completion many award-winning and challenging projects to improve urban spaces.

In my academic and professional work, I create real systems for real people. I think that too much research stays in the lab, when it would be better suited to improving people’s lives. In addition, I have taught / currently teach several courses, including Distributed Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Applied Computing Projects I and II and Mobile & Social Computing.

In addition to my career in research, I have been employed by University of Oulu also for tutoring and teaching students.

At the same time, I supervised a BSc project aimed to create the client application(s) for the end product, and I continued its development afterwards. Please see the project page for more details about the system we developed.

At Waseda University’s Distributed Computing Lab, I developed middleware for augmenting artefacts, such as embedding mini-computers to any ordinary furniture.

We created some of the world’s first prototypes to support content transfer using everyday artefacts as digital content containers, and developed fully-functional middleware to network artefacts together. If you are interested in more information, please click here.
